Yr 6 Yachting

The years 6s are waiting for a challlenge from Mr Hemi. All of the days that the year 6s went to Pandora Pond were so much fun.

The year 6s are having a sail in the optimist yachts.

Camp Kaitawa

Finally we're here at Camp Kaitawa. It's really foggy and there's lots and lots of rain. If the fog wasn't there, there would be a beautiful view. First we had to take our luggage and claim our beds. Then we went for our very first walk at camp Kaitawa.

Green Lake at year 6 Camp

This is the most beautiful, clearest lake I've ever seen. It  is called The Green Lake because  the river bed is green. I would like to swim in it one day if you're allowed to. I'm sure you would like to as well. Camp was amazing. Year 5s, this is something to look forward to for next year.

Yachting

We went to yachting. I went sailing with Courney in the yacht. My shoes were wet in the water. I nearly tipped out. Courtney went back to get Cameron. I was screaming in the yacht. Mr Hemi blew the whistle and Courtney went in the yacht. Courtney took me to the otherside. Courtney went back to get Cameron. I like Yachting. I saw bubbles. By Brett

My First School Camp

Camp was awesome. When I arrived there I saw a trampoline. We cannonballed and flipped. Mrs Henare chose people to go in a tent or a cabin. Everyone wanted to go in a tent because it was fun.

Then we changed into our togs to float down the river on tyre tubes.
"Wow! That sounds cool," I thought.

King Jake's Castle

Year 5 camp was great. I loved going to the beach for the beach construction. We built King Jake's Castle. We had lots of photos taken of us. On the last day we walked to the river hole and did massive bombs into the water.
King Jake is sitting on his throne, in his castle.

Homework changes

Once again, the children who aren't at camp this week, can have a wee rest from homework. Well, not quite - the weekly quiz needs to be done and, with daylight saving having ended, it's time to go to bed earlier and catch up on reading library books...

Don't forget to have netball and Primary Research Task permission slips  back asap - netball by this Wednesday; research task by the following Wednesday.

Children, remember our Fun Day is approaching - Wednesday 16th. Keep earning those PPAs so you can be rewarded for all your good behaviour and hard work.

That was Summer

We have been reading a poem, in class, called That was Summer, by Marci Ridlon. Ben was inspired to write his own version and I'm sure you will be VERY impressed.

Have you ever smelled summer?
Or felt it?
When it's hot, and cool breezes blow
across your face and
the smell of grass.
Do you remember the time it was so hot
you asked your Dad to take you to the river?
All cold flowing, but nice,
Even the dirty parts of the river.
The feeling of the warm grass and plants
and those weird sticky chunks of mud
that are filled with water.
The times when you were about to leave, you wanted to stay,
and play in the water,
swimming under the water,
having so much fun
But the walk down the track
was something that didn't really make sense.
Driving down the track
then back on to the road
and home.
Now that's what I like about summer.
